It may sound difficult and complicated to make split canvases, but in fact, it is easier than it sounds and such a fun project if you used this simple and easy method. This is very beginner friendly and the end result looks like “store-bought” art work, except it is completely your original! You can apply any other ideas and inspirations to make it more exciting, too!
See below for how to make your own Split Canvas Art!
What you will need:
- Canvas(es) of your choice
- White Spray paint if the canvas is not white (I chose satin finish)
- Spray paint of your choice
- Painter’s tape (Size of the pattern you would like)
- Measuring tape
If your canvas is not white, spray one or two layers to make it white. Wait till they completely dry, and begin the process. Tape your canvases as you like, I used the first canvas as reference point to radiate all the lines.
The only point is to keep the distance between canvases as uniform as possible. I had about 2 inches between the pieces.
You can simply use the tape to make straight lines and cut in between to wrap it.
Once it’s covered with the tapes, make sure they are firmly attached throughout to avoid bleeding.
Spray a very light coat. Continue a few times till they are completely in the color your want.
Once they are completely dry, remove the tapes and if there are bleeding, paint in white to make sure the lines are all solid.
